| Sumario: | The case study entitled "Excessive use of social networks and psychological well-being in third-year high school students of the Guillermo Baquerizo Jiménez Educational Unit, in the city of Juján", seeks to analyze the influence of excessive use of social networks on the psychological well-being of young people. The study is based on an exploratory-descriptive approach and a non-experimental methodology, structured interviews, a questionnaire on excessive use of social networks and the WHO-5 Psychological Well-being scale were applied to assess the emotional, mental and self-esteem state of the students. The results of the study revealed that there is a very significant relationship between excessive use of social networks and psychological well-being, so it was concluded that young people who use social networks excessively are at greater risk of experiencing symptoms of depression, low self-esteem, anxiety and even social isolation. Several factors were identified that help this relationship, for example, the time spent daily use and the impact on mental health. In addition, the results will benefit students, parents and teachers because providing this information allows the development of prevention programs that promote the use of social networks, but in a healthy way, without falling into addiction. |
