Description
Résumé:Server virtualization has become a key solution for improving efficiency and reducing costs in the management of technological infrastructure in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In the food distribution sector in Ecuador, where resource optimization and operational improvement are essential, choosing the right virtualization platform can make a significant difference in business competitiveness. However, there are few studies that comparatively address the main virtualization options in this sector, making it difficult for companies to make informed decisions. This research focuses on the comparative evaluation of three of the main virtualization platforms: VMware, Hyper-V and VirtualBox, with the objective of analyzing their technical characteristics, costs, performance and operational efficiency in the Ecuadorian context. Each of these solutions presents advantages and limitations according to the type of company and its specific needs.
