The case study Impact on mental health due to diabetes in a 46-year-old adult from the Montalvo canton whose objective was to determine the incidence of diabetes on the mental health of a 46-year-old adult, resident in the Montalvo canton, being This is a study with a qualitative, descriptive, bibliographic approach in which the interview was used as a data collection technique, and as instruments a questionnaire with open questions, direct observation, clinical history and psychometric tests, through which the result was that the patient experiences a series of psychological effects related to her diabetes, one of the main ones being depression. A significant level of mental health was observed due to the responsibilities associated with disease control, diet and constant monitoring of glucose levels, which cause negative mood states in the patient such as sadness, hopelessness, causing irritability and insomnia. Concluding that diabetes can have a significant impact on the mental health of a 46-year-old adult and among the most common disorders that can be generated is depression. The constant concern about controlling the disease and the demands for self-care can negatively affect her psychological well-being.
