| Резюме: | Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is characterized by a persistent blockage of air flow. It is an underdiagnosed and potentially fatal disease that alters normal breathing and is not totally reversible. (Health, 2013) Its complications could be: Irregular heartbeat (arrhythmias, need for a respirator and oxygen therapy, Right or cor-pulmonary heart failure (inflammation of the heart and heart failure due to chronic lung disease), Pneumonia, Pneumothorax, Considerable weight loss and malnutrition, Thinning of bones (osteoporosis), Weakness, Increased anxiety (Denis Hadjiliadis, 2015). The research that has been conducted in the Muñoz Rubio citadel of the Babahoyo territory, seeks information that allows knowing why smoking affects Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, giving priority to the needs of the elderly and that allows to apply a program of talks related to the care, prevention and improvement of the lifestyle of the residents of the Muñoz Rubio citadel. |
