Sumari:SUMMARY This paper presents technical aspects about the alternatives for the control of the Mycosphaerella fijiensis M black sigatoka in the cultivation of bananas, highlighting the cultural tasks such as leaf removal, pruning and phytosanitary surgery, which are used to avoid the incidence and severity of the disease, which are aimed at the total or partial elimination of tissue infected by the disease through the use of a specialized tool called podón. It has also been possible to compile basic information about the economic importance of banana cultivation in Ecuador, as well as information about the black sigatoka disease Mycosphaerella fijiensis M, by knowing a little more about how it reproduces inside the plant and which are the symptoms that it presents to be able to identify it avoiding that it spreads and affects the total of the plantation of banana, in addition it is made known about the yellow sigatoka Mycosphaerella musicola to avoid confusions between the two.
