In which a research methodology has been used with a mixed approach, of explanatory type trying to note the effect on the research variables, with a documentary - experimental design where research work has been reviewed to gather information on this topic, directed to a population of 96 students of the Juan E. Verdesoto School corresponding to the students of the fourth year of general basic education is located in the province of Los Ríos, Canton Babahoyo located on 10 de Agosto Street between Rocafuerte and Eloy Alfaro. With a sample of 48 students belonging to the fourth year of basic education. The technique used for data collection is the survey and the instrument used in this research was the questionnaire of questions that gave us valuable information in our research. Once the data were collected, they were tabulated, we chose the statistical tool Excel, obtained with instruments previously subjected to reliability and validity tests. The results were statistically analysed and showed a percentage of 68% of students who do not have the support of their parents in doing their homework or participating in academic activities. The conclusion is that parental participation in the teaching and learning process is very important.
