Esto suele ocurrir con o sin cardiopatía previa. Los grupos de personas que están más propensas a padecer esta patología, son los adultos mayores, que están o no acompañados de alguna otra enfermedad como, hipertensión arterial, diabetes, obesidad y sobrepeso. El siguiente caso clínico tiene como objetivo aplicar un proceso de atención de enfermería en un paciente de 67 años de edad con Insuficiencia Cardiaca Aguda, en el área de Emergencia del Hospital General San Francisco de Quito. Se realizó una respectiva valoración de enfermería priorizando, los signos y síntomas que presentaba el paciente en ese momento, para establecer los correspondientes cuidados de enfermería con el y estado de salud del mismo. Mediante una minuciosa y correcta valoración de propósito de aliviar los problemas que aquejan al paciente, sobre todo mejorar el bienestar enfermería se obtuvo buenos resultado en la aplicación de los cuidados de enfermería necesarios en el paciente, conjuntamente con el correspondiente tratamiento farmacológico prescrito. Es muy importante educar a los familiares sobre el cuidado que debe llevar un paciente con Insuficiencia Cardiaca Aguda.
