Through the follow-up and monitoring of the patient, positive responses were obtained, his blood pressure stabilized and his cholesterol normalized to almost normal levels.El presente caso clínico se trata de un adulto mayor de 68 años de edad, es profesor, tiene 2 hijos y vive en Montalvo; Antecedente patológicos personales no refiere, dentro de los antecedentes patológicos familiares, la madre falleció de hipertensión, acude a control de rutina, por lo que indica que en las últimas semanas se ha sentido mal, con ardor en los ojos, cefaleas intensas y dolor muscular; con temor de padecer de hipertensión ya que su madre padeció de esa enfermedad; se procede a realizar la valoración nutricional al paciente y su IMC reflejo peso normal sin riesgo cardiovascular; se realiza los exámenes correspondientes al paciente donde reflejaron hipercolesterolemia, sodio elevado y potasio disminuido; Luego de realizarle todos los exámenes correspondiente al paciente, es diagnosticado con Hipertensión Arterial, por lo que el médico le envía losartan de 100mg una al día y es remitido a la nutricionista. Se procede a realizar la intervención nutricional individualizada al paciente, teniendo en cuenta dos aspecto, nivel socioeconómico y su estado patológico, una alimentación que le proporcione las cantidades optimas de macro y micronutrientes y a la vez que cubra con los requerimientos calóricos del paciente, por lo que prescribe la dieta DASH que se ajusta a la patología del paciente, es una alimentación que se usa para tratar y prevenir la hipertensión arterial, esta será fraccionada en 4 comidas al dia, con característica hiposodicas, rica en potasio, normolipidica, alta en fibra conjuntamente con la actividad física va a mejorar el estado de salud del paciente.
