Summary:The present case study has as its theme: anxiety and its influence on the academic performance of a student and as an objective, to establish the influential factors that generate anxiety in the tenth year student. Relating the variables of the topic served to determine the diagnostic criteria, academic performance and establish the appropriate psychotherapeutic intervention at the individual level, in which instruments were used such as: the clinical observation guide, clinical history, psychometric techniques such as scale of anxiety of Hamilton, inventory of anxiety of Beck. The student presents diagnostic criteria of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), there being a relationship between anxiety and its influence on academic performance, affecting its school integration, interpersonal relationships, social-behavioral relationships, for this reason the psychotherapeutic intervention was with the model of cognitive behavioral therapy.
