الملخص:Respiratory distress syndrome in the newborn constitutes one of the main reasons for admission of the neonate to the Intensive Care Units and has been identified as a fundamental cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality; its diagnostic approach is a challenge for the area of neonatology. because the clinical symptoms are non- specific and not always sufficient to conclude a definitive etiological diagnosis, therefore, it is crucial to investigate the history (prenatal, natal and postnatal), perform a detailed examination and properly interpret the complementary physical examinations performed. Regarding the methodology applied in this study, it was based on the review of a clinical history of a patient with tachypnea in the neonatal intensive care area. In conclusion, it is considered that transient tachypnea of the newborn is associated with factors such as cesarean section, pregnancy, maternal asthma and premature rupture of membranes. However, no significant differences were found for hypertensive disorders during pregnancy.
