Lo integran cinco etapas y cada una de ellas se analiza de forma individual pero siempre van a estar relacionadas. La colecistitis aguda es la inflamación de la vesícula biliar, que ocurre mayormente por cálculos biliares que obstaculizan el conducto cístico. Esto provoca que la bilis se acumule, cause irritación y presión en la vesícula biliar. Gran parte de los casos son asintomáticos, y solo un 20% son más propensos a desarrollar una colecistitis aguda. Teniendo una mayor incidencia en la población femenina. Su clínica se caracteriza por dolor abdominal en el hipocondrio derecho, además de náuseas y vómitos, deshidratación y fiebre. El diagnostico se basa en la clínica, hallazgos de laboratorio y estudios imagenológicos.
