Evaluación de trampas etológicas para el control de Cosmopolites sordidus en la plantación de banano (Mussa AAA) Cantón Puebloviejo

The investigation on the control of Cosmopolites sordidus (black weevil) has been carried out at the Hacienda “Mechita” owned by Mr. Gustavo Marún, located on the San Juan road of the Puebloviejo canton of the province of Los Ríos; In experimental work, 7-year-old banana plants have been used in the Gran Williams variety, where sandwich and V-type traps have been made at heights of 25 cm, 50 cm, and 100 cm, which are considered as the treatments evaluated, plus the witness, which represents the control carried out by the farm. The experimental work expresses what treatment the agricultural company should adopt for the control of C. sordidus (black weevil) with the intention of improving the productive and economic performance; The agronomic materials CLORPILAQ 48 and picudin (mixture of fruit essences plus spinosyne) have been applied to each of the traps for the purpose of attracting insects; In the development of the experimental trial, the inductive, deductive and experimental methods have been used as a research methodology, with the aim of determining the main findings detected during the field work, and then making general conclusions about the various experimental tests performed. The results obtained indicate that the most effective treatment of experimental work is the sandwich trap at a height of 25 cm, since it has captured the largest amount of C. sordidus (black weevil), which is closely related to the behavioral habits of the Mentioned insect, which prefers the base of the banana or banana corms to perform oviposition, so it is recommended that treatment with the sandwich trap at the height of 25 cm should be enhanced by virtue of the effectiveness in capturing of insects
