| الملخص: | Worldwide, acute respiratory diseases are one of the leading causes of child morbidity and mortality, along with diarrhoea, which accounts for 30% of child mortality. Community Acquired Pneumonia (CAP) is a common disease and is considered a very serious infection in children, which requires public education about its concept and diagnosis (Hernández Zambrano & Soria Acosta, 2021). The assessment by the nursing professional is a key element in the care of this disease, some of which are: monitoring of vital signs, especially respiratory pattern, help with ventilation, airway aspiration, oxygen therapy, cardiac care, hemodynamic regulation, medication management, pain control, sleep improvement, comfort control, muscle relaxation, massages, among others (Hernández Zambrano & Soria Acosta, 2021). This clinical case demonstrates the care provided to a 5-year-old male pediatric patient, after presenting a clinical picture characterized by respiratory distress evidenced by intercostal indrawing and nasal flaring, increased temperature, vomiting, and dizziness. Through the assessment carried out through the 14 basic needs of Virginia Henderson, the nursing interventions that helped to maintain the patient's state of health stable are applied. |
