| Shrnutí: | This research project has been carried out with the objective of applying an Ecuador Risk Score to predict prediabetes and type 2 diabetes in adults between 20-50 years of the citadel San Juan, Palestina-Guayas, this score is a tool developed and validated through a multicentre open cross-sectional study by thirty clinicians-nutritionists. Diabetes mellitus is one of the very common chronic noncommunicable diseases, especially Diabetes mellitus type 2, which until today is constantly increasing worldwide, nationally, regionally and locally; Due to not using tools that can predict the risk of developing this pathology and thus contribute to prevention, we have seen the need to apply this tool. In this research, a sample of 68 adults between 20-50 years old was used with the use of the deductive method with a quantitative, descriptive, field and cross-sectional approach and the application of an anthropometric method (weight, height, body mass index). by using OMRON Scale and SECA metric tape to obtain the results of the Ecuador Risk Score. According to the results of the total of adults, 63% presented a Risk 4 with 23% probability of having prediabetes and type 2 diabetes, while 16% presented Risk 3 with 12% probability, in addition, 13% presented Risk 1 with 3% probability, and 8% presented Risk 2 with 9% probability of having prediabetes and type 2 diabetes. The Ecuador risk score was successfully applied, as it was an easy-to-use, low-cost, validated tool that allowed calculating the probability of prediabetes and type 2 diabetes. |
