Summary:Alzheimer's disease over the years continues to represent a serious mental health problem, which is present most often in old age, hindering the quality of life and therefore interfering with the activities of the daily life of those who suffer from it. The present research called cognitive psychostimulation based on self-care in elderly people with Alzheimer's assisted in the gerontological center of the city of Quevedo, first semester of 2018. It was carried out with the objective of analyzing how cognitive psychostimulation techniques help in the self-care of Older adults with Alzheimer's. The methods that were used to develop this project were the deductive, inductive, statistical and hypothetical deductive method. We worked with a population of 65 senior citizens with Alzheimer's from the Gerontological Center of the city of Quevedo. The instruments that were used throughout this investigation were the questionnaire and direct observation, through which favorable results were obtained, concluding that the The implementation of psychostimulation techniques favors the self-care of these patients, being of great importance its frequent application in the daily activities carried out by the elderly, in such a way that they feel useful in the daily tasks they must fulfill, and the development of cognitive abilities still preserved.
