| Summary: | SUMMARY This investigation took effect on hda. Guido ranch, located in the canton of Balao, Guayas province, at Km 7 via San Carlos -. Balao, whose geographical coordinates are 790 48' 36 "west longitude, 200 54' 36" South latitude and altitude 10 meters. Its climate is humid tropical type, with average annual temperature between 15 and 34 0C, annual rainfall of 1000 mm. The objective was to determine the population dynamics of insects - pests of cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.) In the course of the investigation a total of 17 evaluations were conducted during the months of April, May, June and July; of all insects - pests of cocoa, in stems, leaves and fruit. 10 plants at random were taken to the evaluations, the same as were selected. To carry out the work approaches an area of five hectares, the same as for being an ecological plantation does not receive applications of chemical pesticides was selected. Notably insects failed to recognize in the field were identified in the Laboratory of Entomology FACIAG. The highest average found insect pest population corresponded to A. gossypii, detected a higher proportion causing damage to the leaves, with an overall average of 35.70 individuals in ten sheets of ten floors, and the lowest value (12 individuals) he observed in the fruits of the ten plants. The population of insect pests found corresponded to M. dissimulatum that ranged from absent to 9 individuals over 10 floors, these were detected in greater numbers in the fruits with an average of 1, 88 individuals. The highest correlation coefficient was presented among the population of M. dissimulatum versus Pseudococcus spp, which was 0.816; He was presented with a positive value and with high statistical significance, this implies that there is a direct relationship between the two populations, since increasing the population of M. dissimulatum also increases the population of Pseudococcus spp. The lowest correlation coefficient was presented among the population of B. tabaci population against Empoasca spp, the same as was - 0.021; He was presented with a negative sign, which shows that there is inverse relationship between these populations because, by increasing the population of B. tabaci, Empoasca spp decreases; and there is no statistical significance between the two populations. |
