For which a control was carried out by means of the examinations to determine the improvement, and with the help of the medications, she was able to be discharged after showing good clinical stability.El presente caso clínico de una paciente de 54 años que fue ingresada por presentar un cuadro caracterizado por tos persistente, fiebre, malestar general y disnea, por lo que el personal médico procede a realizar una intubación orotraqueal, después de realizar una serie de exámenes se detecta la presencia de neumonía de origen viral lo que desencadena el síndrome de distrés respiratorio agudo complicando la estabilidad clínica. El síndrome de distrés respiratorio agudo es un problema de origen no cardiogénico, alterando la circulación pulmonar por presentar inflamación y necrosis, impidiendo la buena ventilación, por lo que se deben de emplear un correcto manejo del ventilador y la pronación del paciente para garantizar la relación ventilación y profusión, evitando la severidad e incluso la muerte del paciente. La neumonía viral se caracteriza por la inflamación del parénquima pulmonar y la presencia de líquido o pus en los alveolos, su causa más común es por el virus de la influenza que desciende a las vías aéreas inferiores.
