Resumo: | The objective of this research work has been to compile information regarding the cultivation of onion (Allium cepa L.). In addition, address the issue related to its production process, pests and diseases to which this crop is exposed, as well as determine possible solutions for their proper management. For this, the characteristics of the species, which affect it and what is the damage it causes during the entire process from its sowing to its harvest, as well as the different control tactics that can be used for the integrated management of the different harmful species that make up this agro ecosystem. The Integrated Management of solutions against Pests is based on principles such as healthy soil, continuous observation of the crop, knowledge of the biology and ecology of the pest and making the right decisions. For this reason, it is important to consider popular knowledge and handle preventive and curative concepts and techniques, in order to make field work more efficient and, in turn, make the best use of this product so that it is economically friendly for farmers and the environment Ecosystem. Finally, the historical method was applied in what refers to the cultivation of this product from ancient times to the present, highlighting an analysis of what should be continued and improved for the benefit of agriculture in general and of those who consume it.
