Beskrivelse
Summary:The following clinical case is about a 20-day-old newborn whose mother explains that he has the following symptoms: vomiting, respiratory distress at times and during sleep, swelling in the abdominal area; The vital signs are taken: heart rate 125 beats per minute, respiratory rate 35 breaths per minute, temperature 37.5º, blood pressure 65/62, oxygen saturation 88%. Immediately he is ordered to perform a chest x-ray, a hemogram, and a blood culture and LCF with the suspicion of an infectious picture. Connatal pneumonia is a lung infection that can develop in the first hours after birth or it can occur days later; That is why it is known as early or late, being the first one that is acquired within 72 hours of life, on the other hand, the one with late onset, this occurs during hospitalization caused by in-hospital microorganisms. The objective of this case is to determine the initial diagnosis in newborns with connatal pneumonia in order to start the appropriate therapeutic treatment. The initial diagnosis in newborns with connatal pneumonia was concluded, consisting of a chest X-ray, blood culture, pulse oximetry, gran stain, lumbar puncture, and in some cases culture of tracheal aspirate when mechanical ventilation is low in the newborn. Therefore, the need arises to provide the necessary information to mothers so that they can take measures to prevent diseases in the newborn.
