SUMMARY ALTERNATIVES FOR THE CONTROL OF WEEDS IN CACAO Weeds will always be one of the main problems in general agriculture, in this present work we are trying to raise the awareness of the farmer of our country and mainly the cocoa producer who still has a type of control of these weeds in a mechanical way, using scythes as basic tool in areas where these cease to be profitable and become an exaggerated economic expense for the control of weeds in the cultivation of cocoa. The incidence of weeds in the san Jacinto farm are aggressive mainly due to the climatic conditions for both the wet and dry season, these being the main allies for the development and multiplication of the same. We proceeded in the first place to the recognition of the weeds that predominate in this farm with the purpose of being able to make the decision of type of herbicides we are going to use for the control, the results were that the grass weeds are the ones that predominate and when evaluating them these in the majority were flourished. In conversations with the owner, it was determined that according to the aggressiveness of the weeds it would be used in a first application of 1.5 liters and that we would work with systemic and contact herbicides in order to see the behavior of the weeds of this farm with these two types of treatment and compare with the witness in this case mechanical control with scythe and conclude with an economic analysis of the treatments.
