Resumo:Weightlifting has become a sports alternative that has generated multiple joys to Ecuadorian sport in turn that has added popularity worldwide. The Sports Federation of Los Ríos has weightlifting as a sport. In the research, the following objectives were proposed, to identify the relationship between the pectoral muscle tear and the techniques used by athletes belonging to the Sports Federation of Los Ríos in the Babahoyo canton. The methodology of descriptive research and qualitative research was used, with a sample of 50 people. The results were given in 44% have been training between 3 and 4 years, 30% have experienced injuries in the last year, the main cause was lifting heavy load incorrectly with 40%. 38% are always under the supervision of coaches. 26% have taken courses to improve their technique, 48% always use protective equipment. 100% indicate willingness to receive training to improve their weightlifting technique. The conclusion reached in the research was that athletes who train in the Sports Federation have access to coaches who provide them with knowledge and techniques focused on developing their skills. There is a direct relationship between the technique and the number of injuries present among athletes who perform their activities in the Sports Federation of Los Ríos, a bad technique is a cause of chest injury.
