Description
Summary:This research aims to explore the relationship between autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and family dynamics in children aged 7 to 9 in the city of Babahoyo. Using a quantitative approach, various aspects of family functioning were analyzed through tools such as the Family Functionality Test (FF-SIL) and the APGAR Family Test, and correlated with the development of risk eating behaviors, assessed using the EAT-26 and SCOFF questionnaires. The sample consisted of 127 adolescents selected using the non-probabilistic snowball method. The results revealed a significant relationship between areas of family functioning, such as cohesion, communication, and affectivity, and dysfunctional eating behaviors, suggesting that a dysfunctional family environment could influence the development of eating-related issues in children with ASD. This research highlights the importance of considering the family context as a key factor in the prevention and treatment of eating disorders in children with autism.
