Sažetak: | Rice cultivation (Oryza sativa, L.) is a very important economic and food sector for the vast majority of countries in the world, particularly for poor and moderately developed countries such as Ecuador and other tropical countries. One of the main difficulties in growing a crop such as rice is other unwanted plants or weeds, whose extensive and large presence affects the cultivation areas both in spatial and temporal terms. Herbicides are used to eliminate weeds while protecting the main crop. An example of this type of herbicide is Profoxydim, the subject of this research, which is widely used in rice fields because it is selective and controls a broad spectrum of weeds. The objectives of this study focused on defining what weeds are, their impact on crops, the recognition of the main weeds, the action of herbicides for control, particularly the mode of action of Profoxydim. The results obtained, their discussion, conclusions and recommendations confirm the physical-chemical characteristics, mode of action, and efficacy of the product in controlling a broad spectrum of weeds that are usually present when planting rice. |
