Summary:Diabetes mellitus refers to a group of diseases that affect the way the body uses glucose in the blood. Glucose is an important source of energy for the cells that form muscles and tissues. It is also the main source of fuel for the brain. This clinical case study is about a 36 year old multiparous pregnant woman, who is 28 weeks pregnant with a diagnosis of diabetes mellitus plus diabetic ketoacidosis since she was 28 years old, presenting diabetes mellitus, admitted to the emergency area of the Hospital Universitario de Guayaquil, accompanied by her partner, presenting clinical symptoms of loss of consciousness due to hyperglycemia of 160 mg/dl, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain in the epigastric area, dyspnea on small efforts, dysphagia, patient is admitted to the gynecology area High Obstetric Risk. Through the evaluation of Marjory Gordon's altered functional patterns, the following are highlighted: Alteration of Pattern 2. Nutritional metabolic, Pattern 4. activity and rest, Pattern 5. sleep and rest and Pattern 9. sexuality and reproduction, and where the taxonomy of NANDA, NOC and NIC is applied.
