Zusammenfassung:Nursing care in neonates with gastroschisis at the University Hospital of Guayaquil follows a comprehensive approach from initial stabilization to postoperative recovery. Initial assessment includes observation of vital signs and a detailed cephalocaudal examination to identify risks and guide the care plan. Blood pressure of 96/72 mmHg and oxygen saturation of 98% indicate circulatory and respiratory stability, while temperature of 36.3°C suggests the need for rigorous thermal control. Management of gastroschisis involves sterile protection of exposed viscera, constant monitoring of respiratory and circulatory function, and administration of prophylactic antibiotics to prevent infections. Nursing staff face challenges such as infection prevention, management of pressure on the abdominal wall, and emotional support for parents. Complementary tests, such as complete blood count, help detect possible complications, such as infections or hydroelectrolytic imbalances. To optimize the quality of care, ongoing staff training, improved care protocols, and strengthening interdisciplinary communication are recommended.
