Özet:SUMMARY The following research was conducted in the community Tetes, parish Tulcan, Tulcán canton, Carchi province. Located in the geographical coordinates: 0 ° 45 '53 "North Latitude and -77 ° 44' 55" west longitude at an altitude of 3037 m.s.n.m. Bioclimatic annual averages are presented as follows: average temperature: 11 ° C, rainfall: 1004 mm, relative humidity 80%. ecological classification according to Holdridge: Montana rain forest (bh-M). A clay loam soil with a pH 6-7 and slightly acidic. As genetic material two varieties (White and Red), with three elicitors (salicylic acid Fosfito--Chitosan and a control without application) was used. Inductive-deductive, empirical analysis and synthesis called experimental: the theoretical methods were used. Design Randomized Complete (DBCA) blocks, and a factorial arrangement (A x B), with a total of 8 treatments, 3 replications, totaling 24 experimental units, all variables analysis of variance underwent used ADEVA and to determine the statistical difference between treatment means Duncan test at 5% significance was used. For the implementation of this work the following objectives; determine the effect of elicitors on the performance of two varieties of onion, evaluate the effectiveness of elicitors against pathogens and economically analyze the treatments. The following variables were determined; incidence of disease (Puccinia sp and sp Stemphylium), severity of disease, efficacy of treatments, plant height, stem diameter, stem weight, yield per unit and experimental treatments analyzed economically; recording that treatment of (Red Onion - phosphite) record lower incidence, severity and more effective control (Puccinia sp and sp Stemphylium), statistically equal treatment (white-phosphite Onion) and (Onion red- Salicylic Acid ) and (white onion - Chitosan), (Onion white- salicylic acid) in plant height, weight and performance stems per experimental unit. In the economic analysis was recorded to the treatment of the variety Blanca with application of Salicylic acid with greater economic profitability of $ 9.159,00 USD / ha.
