This defect can be originated in early stages of embryonic development due to vascular anastomosis that condition the inverted arterial flow to the acardio twin, in which the healthy twin will suffer multiple consequences by having to fulfill his cardiac function and of his brother, the fetus is a very rare malformation but since ancient times it has evolved with respect to the way of being called from naming him headless monster to a malformed fetus not compatible with life. |

Se cree que el origen de esta malformación se debe a la anastomosis vascular anormal de la placenta que causan la involución principal cefálica de uno de los fetos el cual siempre es inviable. Este defecto puede ser originado en etapas precoces del desarrollo embrionario debido a la anastomosis vascular que condicionan el flujo arterial invertido hacia el gemelo acardio, en la cual el gemelo sano va a sufrir múltiples consecuencias al tener que cumplir con la función cardiaca de él y la de su hermano, es una malformación muy poco común pero desde la antigüedad ha ido evolucionando con respecto a la forma de ser llamado desde nombrarlo monstruo sin cabeza a feto malformado no compatible con la vida.
