Summary:Passive smoking is considered one of the main risk factors for contracting bronchial asthma at an early age, this being a contaminant that affects children who live with active smokers in the first place. The objective of this research is to determine the incidence of passive smoking in bronchial asthma in children aged 0 to 12 years of Bellavista enclosure of the Ventanas canton during the period September 2017 to February 2018. The methodology used in this research project was qualitative and quantitative with a descriptive and transversal type of study, taking as sample 40 children that correspond to the ages of 0 to 12 years. The results obtained from the information collected determined 62% of children living with active smokers, while 72% are directly exposed to tobacco smoke because this activity began in their environment, with 67% of these children being asthmatic, describe 80% data on the lack of knowledge of fathers and mothers about the acquisition of bronchial asthma due to exposure to tobacco smoke. In conclusion there is a marked incidence of passive smoking and certain asthmatic children who live with cigarette consumers increasing the risk of the development of symptoms, regardless of the presence of minors, the active smoker starts his habit by converting more than 50% of the children (as) in passive smokers, increasing the risk of contracting respiratory diseases such as bronchial asthma. The results obtained allow the fulfillment of the objectives and the verification of the hypothesis.
