Determine what educational nursing actions were being applied. Through the structured surveys it was shown that risk factors such as ignorance of the pathology, urinary retention and inadequate hygiene of the urogenital area expose the pregnant woman. The nursing staff provides general guidelines for care in the pregnancy stage; their role is focused on educating patients and promoting healthy lifestyle habits. By reviewing medical records it was found that 68% of pregnant women had suffered from urinary tract infection and the stage in which it occurs most often is in the third trimester of pregnancy. Finally, it is concluded that educational nursing interventions are directly related to the management and prevention of urinary tract infections. This background allows establishing the proposal to be applied through audio-visual workshops aimed at pregnant women who come to the Pan American Hospital, based on proper rules and practices of nutrition, daily hydration, personal and environmental hygiene and clothing suitable for pregnancy, which will contribute to self-care and reduce the incidence of urinary infection. |
