Sumario:The research presented was conducted at the Juan León Mera Elementary School. The general objective was to determine the relationship between food consumption and the assessment of nutritional status in schoolchildren aged 7 to 11 years in the city of Montalvo from October 2024 to May 2025. The study used a total population of 100 students, taking into account certain inclusion and exclusion criteria. The study design was descriptive and cross-sectional, utilizing techniques such as observation, surveys, and anthropometric assessment of the students. The research results were as follows: Most students consume processed foods over natural and/or home-prepared foods. However, teaching and learning processes are needed for parents, teachers, and the rest of the educational community to improve the identified aspects and achieve better nutritional status.
