Periodismo de datos como nueva forma de narración periodística

The present investigation focused on studying data journalism as a new form of journalistic narration, due to the current panorama of the media worldwide, having a new configuration given by the generalization of the Internet and its influence as the main source of information for the work of journalists. In this context and with the implementation of new information technologies, a new discipline such as data journalism has emerged. The research had a qualitative, descriptive and diagnostic design, inductive and deductive methods were applied; the techniques used were the interview and the survey applied to three journalists from the city of Babahoyo. The research findings reflected that social communicators faced challenges by not knowing the different technological tools, such as presentation techniques, data design and volume management for their content. In addition to other factors that prevent them from offering users accurate and understandable information. It is concluded that data journalism in Ecuador is still developing; the results evidenced in the province of Los Ríos reflect that few journalists have the professional profile to work with this type of journalism.
