Results: It was obtained that the most frequent age was 4 years with 56.8%, followed by 5 years with 27.3%; Among the risk factors, the male gender (56.8%), maternal age of 20-24 years (52.3%), primary education level (47.7%), low socioeconomic level (54.5%), were housewives (43.2%), annual medical care of their child (72.7%), vaccination schedule up to date (52.3%), consumption of healthy foods a few times a month (72.7%) and occasionally receiving advice on healthy eating and prevention of malnutrition (59.1%) stood out; and the predominant degree of malnutrition was mild in 59.1%. Conclusion: There are biological, socioeconomic, cultural and nutritional risk factors related to the incidence of malnutrition in preschool children in the El Salto parish. |

Objetivo: Determinar los factores de riesgo que influyen en la desnutrición en preescolares de la Parroquia El Salto, Babahoyo, octubre 2024- mayo 2025. Metodología: Se empleó el método inductivo-deductivo, modalidad cuantitativa, diseño observacional, tipo descriptivo, de campo y transversal. Se aplicó la encuesta como técnica a través de un cuestionario conformado por 15 preguntas. La población fue de 44 niños de 3- 5 años. Resultados: Se obtuvo que la edad de mayor frecuencia fue de 4 años con el 56,8%, seguido de 5 años con 27,3%; entre los factores de riesgo, se destacó el género masculino (56,8%), edad materna de 20- 24 años (52,3%), nivel educativo primario (47,7%), bajo nivel socioeconómico (54,5%), eran amas de casa (43,2%), atención médica anual de su hijo/a (72,7%), esquema de vacunación al día (52,3%), consumo de alimentos saludables algunas veces al mes (72,7%) y reciben ocasionalmente asesoría sobre alimentación saludable y prevención de desnutrición (59,1%); y el grado predominante de desnutrición fue leve en el 59,1%.
