In our country, the National Health Survey showed an increase in the prevalence of diabetes from 6.3% to 9.4% between 2003 and 2010 (an increase of 49% in seven years) and diabetes is the main cause of admission to dialysis, non-traumatic amputations and one of the main causes of vision loss. For these reasons, it is of fundamental importance to apply diagnostic criteria and a dietary approach, in addition to physical exercise, as initial treatment. (Alberto Maiz G, Antonio Arteaga Ll, Valentina Serrano L, 2015). That is why it is very important in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus to carry out a nutritional assessment and then give a treatment that helps to counteract the complications caused by this disease, therefore, by applying a correct nutritional plan appropriate to the patient, together with the physical activity will help the progress of the patient.
