Shrnutí: | In Ecuador, large areas of chili are not planted because most of the planted areas are occupied by crops that are more well received in the market and therefore their management is almost unknown in the country, the presence of diseases alerts most producers. To improve their knowledge in cultivation so as not to have problems or economic losses and improve their quality of life, they should apply techniques to control and detect the presence of diseases in time and give them appropriate control. Stem disease or stem rot is caused by various fungi (Phytium spp, Rhizoctonia solani, Phytophthora capsici and Fusarium oxysporum). It is common to find two or more of these pathogens in the root of a plant, although the damage was only done by one of them. Symptoms can occur before the seeds germinate or after they have germinated. This disease is one of the most important in the cultivation of chili in our country since it can cause a mortality of 40 to 70% in an initial plantation. Failure to perform versatility or variety of crops can further complicate the presence of this disease in plantations. |
