| Sumario: | Rice is a crop that contributes significantly to food security and to ensuring adequate levels of profitability for farmers. This research aimed to determine the milling quality of the promising rice line L-37 (Oryza sp.) in the Guare area, Los Ríos province. A completely randomized design was used, including comparisons of means with the Tukey test. Three replicates and two cultivars (L-37 and SFL-11) were considered for the analysis. The results indicate that the L-37 line obtained favorable results in terms of the percentage of humidity, white mass, whole grains and protein. Local varieties, such as SFL-11, have a low commercial value since they have a higher amount of dust, rice, and whole grain. The SFL-11 variety obtained a higher amount of amylose and the L-37 line obtained a higher amount of protein, this content being essential for consumption in homes. The conclusions indicate that the promising rice line L-37 (Oryza sp.) responded favorably in terms of milling quality in the Guare area, Los Ríos province, demonstrating successful adaptability; the promising rice line L-37, compared to the SFL-11 variety, did not show significant differences in the variables evaluated and in relation to the percentage of humidity, husk, white mass, whole grains and proteins, better responses were obtained in the promising line L-37, while the percentage of whole grain, dust, rice, whiteness and amylose, the SFL-11 variety stood out. |
