Queratocono y miopía astigmática en paciente masculino de 36 años.

Among the causes of vision loss we find keratoconus, a condition of the cornea that causes decreased vision. One of the main characteristics of keratoconus is that it is degenerative, for this reason it is essential to have the commitment of the patient and a professional who performs annual check-ups. It is necessary to implement this follow-up in order to detect it early and provide adequate treatment. Emphasizing to the client that in case of carelessness the consequences will be loss of vision. We as optometrists have a duty to provide primary care to our patients in order to safeguard the care of one of their vital organs. The patient object of the present study is male, 36 years old, presented for consultation due to loss of distant vision with correction in use. He states that an assessment should be carried out every 6 months but due to labor issues he omitted the procedure. His last checkup was two years ago. Wear contact lenses and frame lenses interspersed. He told us that at first he only suffered from myopia, but when retinoscopy was performed, scissor reflexes were detected, a sign of suspicion for keratoconus.
