description Chronic bronchitis is nothing other than the inflammation of the trachea, bronchi and bronchioles, mainly caused by a viral infection of the respiratory tract, the clinical manifestations are varied, and range from cough, use of accessory muscles, decreased inspiratory capacity, among others. One of the main risk factors is tobacco use, as well as being exposed to its smoke and irritating odors. Chronic bronchitis is a type of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, which has no cure, but if its symptoms can be attenuated and complications avoided, there will recurrently relapses of it, but generally the clinical manifestations of bronchitis disappear after a few weeks , being secondary or opportunistic infections those that reduce health and require hospitalization. The treatment consists of bronchodilators, steroids, in addition to oxygen therapy, it is also very influential to stop smoking, change lifestyle, and raise the immune system to avoid opportunistic diseases.
