Molasses and molasses-urea supplements have notably influenced the production and reproductive capacity of cattle when the availability of forage and nutrients is reduced, as occurs in the dry season (Fernández 2014). The added value provided to crop residues such as rice paddy nourished with molasses positively favors the fattening and/or maintenance of cattle and also contributes to caring for the environment. |

La paja de arroz representa una importante fuente de energía para el ganado vacuno. Por ello, el conocimiento de la digestibilidad de este tipo de alimento es algo básico para establecer el valor nutritivo y, por lo tanto, la formulación de raciones para animales rumiantes. (Cedeño 2020). Un rollo de paja de arroz de aproximadamente 500 kg, permite el mantenimiento de una vaca de invernada por más de un mes a corral, evitando malvender las categorías improductivas y manteniendo la carga para cuando mejore el balance forrajero (Flores 2009). La melaza y los suplementos de melaza-urea han influido notablemente en la producción y la capacidad de reproducción de los bovinos cuando se reduce la disponibilidad de forrajes y nutrientes, como ocurre en la temporada seca,(Fernández 2014).
