Estudio de Giardiasis en perros cachorros y sus medidas preventivas.

Giardiasis is currently known as an intestinal infection that occurs on the surface of the small intestine and is characterized by destruction of the epithelium in humans and animals. In patients with this infection, they may be asymptomatic. For the implementation of this document, information was collected, analyzed and summarized from various sources such as websites, book information and papers on topics related to the investigation of Giardia canis in puppies. In order to avoid the spread of this infection, which is considered a public health problem in Ecuador. On the other hand, in the veterinary field, Giardia canis is a pathogenic protozoan that presents a high percentage in puppies nationwide. Well, they are more likely to face the clinical ramifications of Giardia infection. Its incidence in puppies is 10% at the ideal assisted dog level and 36-50% in puppies and possibly up to 100% in kennel dogs. For its diagnosis, the most used technique is flotation with zinc sulfate, which allows identifying cysts and oocysts of protozoa to make a good diagnosis and to be able to provide an effective treatment according to the animal and the degree of infestation.
