| Gaia: | The present clinical case analyzes a newborn with necrotizing enterocolitis in the Neonatology area of the Alfredo Noboa Montenegro Hospital, in the city of Guaranda. This clinical condition is considered the most common cause of acquired gastrointestinal diseases and the most frequent reason for surgical emergencies in the newborn. It manifests predominantly in preterm infants with low birth weight. In intensive care areas it occurs frequently in a measure of 1.3 cases per 1000 live newborns with a mortality rate of 20% to 50%, this varies according to its complexity and degree of prematurity of the newborn. Despite advances in neonatal care, this clinical condition has a multifactorial pathogenesis and is not yet definitively defined. These care activities include ventilatory and cardiovascular support, NPO, gastric decompression with an orogastric tube, and treatment with broad-spectrum antibiotics. Therefore, the management of this study focuses on determining the nursing care process in a newborn with necrotizing enterocolitis, based on a diagnostic methodology where the clinical history of this patient is required, the formulation of diagnoses through a timely assessment and planning of interventions that manage to improve the clinical condition of this patient. |
