SUMMARY The grasslands play a fundamental role in the development of livestock, since it depends on these for the increase in livestock production and productivity, for this reason the "Evaluation of productive and agronomic parameters of the janeiro grass (Erioclhoa polystachya), with four Fertilizer application periods in the Babahoyo county - Province of Los Ríos ". The general objective was to evaluate the productive and agronomic parameters of the janeiro grass (Erioclhoa Polystachya) in two periods of application of nitrogen fertilizers. Which took place in the premises of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of the Technical University of Babahoyo, located at km. 7,5 of the Babahoyo-Montalvo road. The geographic coordinates in UTM were 668743 E; 9801031 N. The sowing material used was the janeiro grass, of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, which was made a cut of equalization to start in equal conditions between treatments. For the analysis of variance, a DBCA with Tukey at 95 % probability was used. The agronomic variables that showed changes to the periods of nitrogen fertilization were: plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, where it was evidenced that the treatments with the shortest period of nitrogen application stood out before the others, the knot number per plant was the agronomic variable that did not show changes in the periods of fertilization. Replicate this work with other grass materials to obtain information that leads to the best management of them. Keywords: period of fertilization, genetic material, yield of dry matter.
