Shrnutí:Numerous investigations have determined that during the first years of life the bases for the development of cognitive abilities (thinking, memorizing, understanding, etc.) are implemented, thus allowing the child's satisfactory interaction with the environment that surrounds him. Their achievement has been largely conditioned by the pedagogical strategies that the child receives at the school level. The present research focused on the contribution of recreational activities as a fundamental strategy in the development of cognitive skills in children of Initial Education II, at the Abdón Calderón School of Basic Education. The results of the same allowed us to know that the outdatedness and absence of teacher training in reference to this topic is not promoting the application of recreational methods by the teachers in charge of this level, limiting the stimulation of cognitive skills in the group. of children observed in Initial Education II, it is a priority to apply effective corrective measures that allow providing the opportunities and tools required by the child to guarantee better performance in the training process, and that the child in turn is capable of interacting with the environment. that surrounds it in a satisfactory way. The methodology applied in this research has been mixed, the level of this project was descriptive, in terms of data collection, the documentary method was used, through field research, a non-experimental design was applied, and the data have been been obtained through observation and questionnaire techniques.
