Efectos en la producción del cultivo de toronja roja (Citrus paradisi) ante la presencia del ácaro

This work addressed the issue of the effect on the production of red grapefruit (Citrus paradisi) in the presence of mites. It is worth mentioning that this pest causes potential damage to the fruit of up to 80% and that its effects can be seen in the yield and quality of the fruit of this crop. This pest in citrus areas goes unnoticed, there is no evaluation, monitoring and proper control, as if it were done with the problems of diseases, fertilization, weeds, irrigation and drainage in the crop, without taking into account that The damage caused by mites in grapefruit cultivation has an impact on production estimates and some fruit producers see it as normal damage to this fruit species, due to ignorance and lack of interest in improving its presentation. And quality, production and prices are seriously affected when marketing it locally or for export to North American and European markets, where the fruit has good demand and acceptance by consumers. In this work, alternatives are given for the damage caused by mites and in this way improve their production, with the help of a control based on an adequate and well-organized phytosanitary program in a technical way so that the crop is more efficient in terms of performance, quality and profitability.
