Summary:Acute bronchitis is a disease of infectious origin that affects the bronchial tree, hindering the oxygenation of the lungs, causing an increase in mucus, usually caused by pathogens, viruses or bacteria, its main symptom persistent cough accompanied by dyspnea, wheezing, rhonchi, fever, nasal congestion, vomiting and diarrhea. Risk factors are responsible for respiratory disease, inhalation of tobacco smoke and toxic gases, exposure to dust, moisture, premature birth, nutritional status, overcrowding. It occurs most frequently in children under 4 years old, occupy the first place among the ten most prevalent medical consultation diseases. The diagnosis is made through a physical examination, clinical picture, complementary tests: blood count and standard chest radiography. Epidemiological data from the Ministry of Public Health show that in our country the main cities with the highest rates of cases with respiratory infections are Guayaquil and Quito, in rural areas, the winter season contributes to their appearance. The present clinical case is focused on the development of the nursing care process in a pediatric patient with acute bronchitis, its follow-up from the moment of its admission to the hospital area, as it has been improved day by day, responding to treatment, the application of Nursing care allows us to obtain favorable results in patient recovery.
