The presence or attack of a pest could produce poor quality and low crop yield. Lesion nematodes such as pratylenchus coffeae are considered economically important pests for banana and are one of the main pests in banana cultivation, pratylenchus coffeae lead to complete degradation, leading to poor crop yield, but also its quality decreasing. The nematode pratylenchus coffeae directly attacks the rice of the banana plant causing great losses in production. Among the effects caused by this nematode, this is the weakening of the plant and the difficulty in absorbing nutrients or irrigation makes the plant not work properly. Methods used to reduce the density of P. coffeae in plant material include removal of roots and rhizomes from the surface, and removal of damaged tissue. Exposing the cuttings to direct sunlight can reduce the amount of residual nematodes and pre-sterilized by soaking in a chemical treatment for 15 minutes. |
