| Summary: | This case study aims to establish the relationship between automatic thoughts and school performance of a fifteen-year-old patient belonging to Canton Baba, that by presenting automatic thoughts makes it difficult to fulfill academic activities, generating frustration, tension, influencing their emotional stability, leading to school dropout. As support for this research, reference will be made to Aaron Beck´s cognitive Behavioral model. In order to carry out this research, the following methodology and application of techniques were used: Beck Depression Inventory created with the objective of knowing the degree of depression through 25 questions where a score of 21 was obtained, which represents moderate depression. Likewise, the Inventory of Automatic Thoughts "IPA" was applied to measure and know the most prevalent types of cognitive distortions in the patient where a score of 6 was obtained, where distortions of guilt and you should stand out, HTP projective test that consists of the drawing of a house, tree and person allows us to know about different areas of the human being such as interpersonal relationships, relationships within the home, about their self-concept. Through the application of different psychological techniques such as the clinical interview, psychological observation where it was possible to identify the current signs and symptoms presented by the patient, we also proceeded to the realization of the patient's clinical history. In the development of the case study it was determined that the patient presents distorted automatic thoughts as a result of the intense emotional state that has occurred more frequently, which has led to school dropout, isolation, self-doubt, guilt, making it difficult to solve problems. In addition, a therapeutic plan was developed to provide them with solutions to their current situation. |
