From the systemic family therapy approach, which was the therapy chosen to work on this case study due to the demand of the patient and her family, two techniques were used: geniogram and staging, which were helpful to experience the reality of the family as they define it and to identify the perception that each of them have about their family system.El presente estudio de caso ha sido desarrollado con la finalidad de dar a conocer el nivel de depresión que se presenta producto del cáncer de mama en una paciente del hospital Dr. Abel Gilbert Pontón, en la ciudad de Guayaquil, y a su vez elaborar una propuesta de intervención psicoterapéutica que mantenga en la exploración bibliográfica todo lo relacionado con la depresión, y sobre las consecuencias familiares que causa la presencia y lucha constante contra el cáncer de mama.
