Este estudio se llevó a cabo en el área de hospitalización de medicina interna del Hospital Martin Icaza. Se aborda la etiología, manifestaciones clínicas, métodos diagnósticos y tratamiento asociados con esta condición. El derrame pleural se define como la acumulación anormal de líquido en la pleura pulmonar, siendo causado comúnmente por enfermedades subyacentes. Se manifiesta con una variedad de síntomas que pueden variar según la causa subyacente. El cuidado de enfermería se lleva a cabo de manera sistemática, basándose en un plan elaborado según la valoración por los patrones funcionales de Marjory Gordon y utilizando la taxonomía NANDA, NIC y NOC.
