Description
Summary:In the 21st century, the media plays a critical role in shaping public opinion due to the rapid dissemination of information through various platforms. However, this abundance of information poses the challenge of ensuring its accuracy and reliability. Verification of sources has become a fundamental pillar of today's journalism, not only as a professional practice, but also as an ethical imperative. This is because the veracity of information influences public perception and decision-making, especially on political and social issues. This research focuses on source verification in the context of the production of journalistic reports. The importance of verification in the defense of truth and integrity in journalism, as well as its impact on society, is analyzed. In addition, ethical and practical challenges are examined, such as the proliferation of fake news, the pressure for immediacy and the protection of sources. The research is limited to professional journalists with experience in journalistic reporting and uses an inductive approach, mainly through interviews. The objective is to improve the quality of information in the media and strengthen public trust in journalism. The results will have direct implications for journalists, media outlets and society at large, promoting higher standards of verification and ultimately enabling citizens to make more informed decisions and participate more effectively in the public sphere.
