description This clinical case focuses on a 22-year-old female patient with decreased visual acuity and nyctalopia. The decrease in visual acuity is considered a complication in both distant and near vision, being commonly caused by refractive errors, but also by eye pathologies and diseases. On the other hand, nyctalopia is considered a symptomatology that limits night vision, causing complications when carrying out activities in low-light environments such as driving, and can be caused by various causes. The main objective of the optometric intervention is to identify the cause of these symptoms, in order to implement appropriate treatments to improve the patient's quality of life. In this clinical case, various examinations covered in the optometric field were integrated in order to achieve the objectives of the case. And to be able to make an essential definitive diagnosis, based on these results, the appropriate treatments were implemented, along with the follow-up of the treatments to guarantee their effectiveness. Results: After all the optometric examinations were performed on the patient, the cause of her symptoms was identified, which presented compound myopic astigmatism. On the other hand, an excess of convergence with an endophoria was also detected. Therefore, the appropriate treatments were provided, with a constant follow-up plan to monitor the effectiveness of the treatment and make adjustments as required. Conclusion: Through this optometric intervention, it was verified that the patient obtained an improvement in her visual acuity, being able to carry out her ordinary and academic activities, as well as reducing her symptoms, providing a better quality of life and vision to the patient with the appropriate treatments.
